Edith M. Lederer is an award-winning correspondent for The Associated Press who has worked on every continent except Antarctica. She was the first woman assigned full time by AP to cover the Vietnam War and the first American woman bureau chief for the news agency overseas. She has covered wars, disasters and global issues ranging from the nuclear programs of Iran and North Korea to climate change, combating global poverty and the quest for women's equality. She has been AP's chief correspondent at the United Nations since September 1998.
