Miranda S. Spivack, the Eugene S. Pulliam Distinguished Visiting Professor of Journalism at DePauw University, is an award-winning journalist who has spent much of her career writing accountability stories about state and local governments. She is working on a journalism project about state and local government transparency and secrecy for the Center for Investigative Reporting. She is a former editor and reporter for The Washington Post, and previously was deputy editor for the Post-owned Gazette Newspapers and was a Washington correspondent for The Hartford Courant. She was the Maryland, Delaware, D.C. Press Association’s 2013 first place award winner for local government reporting for her work at The Washington Post. In 2015 she won an honorable mention from the Society of American Travel Writers for a piece in The Washington Post on Roman ruins in Spain. She was a Ford Foundation fellow at Yale Law School.
